Wednesday 2nd October.
Our SCT travelled to Greystones RFC to take on league favourites Temple Carrig. They took the lead early on with a Denians powering over from close range. Ben with the conversion to make it 7-5. Temple Carrig grew into the game and finished the half the stronger scoring three tries. Temple Carrig showed their class in the second half and pulled away. Our Seniors never gave up and defended very well for the majority of the game. Denians added another superb solo try late in the game to add respectability to the scoreboard.
Our JCT produced a very strong display at home to Newpark in the first round of the league. They scored eight tries in total through Matthew B (2), Matthew C (1), Jude, Max, Sam, Jack and Conn. Stephen added one conversion.
Our J2s were also in action - taking on St Pat’s, Navan. Tries from Edward and Cian were not enough in the end and WHS fell short 30-14. Excellent displays up front from Ciaran, Mark and Alpha while Rowland and Cian did well in the backs.
First years travelled to Mt Temple for their first 15 aside away game. Another strong performance meant they won out eight tries to four. Scores coming from Jake (2), Callum (3), Jack W, Joshua M (first for the school) and Joshua S. Some fine performances across the 18 players who togged. Excellent tackling from Jack Mc, Brian and Yaw as well as some great carries from Alex, David and Bligh.
Girls Hockey. Two teams were in action today. It was great to see competitive games being played on an all weather hockey pitch for the first time in Wilson's Hospital School.
