Rugby. Wilson's Win Their Second U14's League Match Against St Mary's Diocesan School, Drogheda.

Away to St Mary's Diocesan school on a very windy and blustery day Wilson's First Year Boy’s team won the toss and decided to play with the wind for the first half. The wind was blowing diagonally across the pitch so this was a challenge for both teams to adopt to the weather conditions as matches played in the competition to date, were played in ideal conditions.
From the kick off Wilson's got off to a great start scoring first with a great try by Jacob, converted by Ian. With the wind favouring Wilson's it was important to put as many scores on the board as possible, but Wilson's then lost concentration and let in an easy try. Wilson's then attacked and with some good rucking by the forwards especially Mervyn,  Matthew and Jacob, After a good ruck team captain, Andrew peeled off the side to score a well earned try. From the kick off Wilson's stormed up the field and from a penalty Andrew got his second try to leave the score at half time Wilson's  17pts  St Mary's 5pts.
The second half started with Wilson's playing into the wind so they had to play with the ball in hand as much as possible, but with some poor tackling St Mary's got in for their second try which was converted. With fifteen minutes left to play, Wilson's had a lot of hard work to do to keep St Mary's out of their half, and with the whole team working hard together, we saw Mervyn scoring a try in the corner which wasn't converted to leave the score, Wilson's 22pts St Mary's 12pts.  The school is now heading the league, having played two and won two. The next match is against Athboy C.S.  at home, date to be arranged.

Monday 7th March.
