Hockey. The 1st Year Girls and the Senior B Girls Hockey teams played home matches today. The Senior B girls team suffered a sad 0-3 defeat to Castlepollard Community College.
It was troublesome start as Castlepollard scored 3 goals in the first half despite the defence of our team. At one point we did get the ball within a meter of the goal but due to unlucky circumstances we weren't able to finish the goal.
After an inspirational team talk from the Team Captain Debbie and the excellent effort from Georgia the goalie, we managed to have a goal free second half along with the extra effort put in by the team. We were unlucky not to score goals in the second half as we had most of the possession. We must also mention the great effort put in by Chinwe, Avril and Soky in the second half.

Rugby. The Senior Boys Team travelled to Clontarf on Tuesday evening to take on St Paul's in the Quarter final of the McMullan Cup.
There first half was a tightly contested affair. St Paul's were very well organised and forced several turn overs in the early exchanges. WHS did manage to break the St Paul's line after about 15 minutes. Some good build up play by Eoin and Harry allowed Santos get over on the corner. Sam missed the conversion but did add a penalty minutes later. That was as good as the half for WHS and Paul's added 2 penalties late in the first half to make the half time score 6-8.
The first 15 minutes of the second half were tight with both teams gaining decent territory but failing to convert those opportunities into points. The decisive score came from Alex mid way through the second half. A strong carry got him through the first line of defence and he out ran the St Paul's full back to score under the posts. Conor added another try with 5 minutes to go. Final Score 22-6.
Nathan was named man of the match on the night after some strong carries and a key turn over in the second half. Barry, Alex and Mark also performed well in the pack, while Sam and Harry were the pick of the backs.
Wednesday 12th December.
Hockey. The Senior B Girls team played Mercy, Navan today in an entertaining game. The first half was very fast paced with Navan controlling possession and creating shooting chances. At the end of the first half Mercy got a short corner which trickled by a Wilson’s stick and went into the bottom corner.
During the second half Wilson’s came out fighting. They won every 50/50 ball and created several chances. They moved the ball up the field with brilliant passing from Jennifer, Maribel and Ayo. As they game progresses Wilson’s just couldn’t put away the chances. They were caught with a brilliant counter attack from Mercy who scored a second goal. The game ended 2-0 to Mercy, Navan but Wilson’s should be proud of the teamwork and sport they displayed.
The Minor A Girls team were in also action against Mercy, Navan in their first game of the Meath League. Navan got off to a strong start breaking into the circle immediately. Our sturdy defence saw them off and Wilson's gained their composure. From that point Wilson's dominated the half with Ameera taking her opportunity to open the scoring with a lovely goal, leaving us 1-0 up at half time.
In the second half Navan came back with energy and put two balls across the goal line. As the match drew to a close Wilson's were 2-1 down and finding themselves getting frustrated in the opposition's circle. Having won a penalty corner, the injected ball hobbled across the grit and didn't quite make it outside circle. ElleAnna retrieved it, dribbled out of the circle and back in, immediately winning another penalty corner by cleverly putting the ball on a defender's foot. This penalty corner ended with the awarding of a third penalty corner which Wilson's failed to convert into a goal.
The minutes ticked away and just as it looked like we were going home without any points, the forwards made a break and broke into the circle again. Faith put a perfect pass across the mouth of the goal to Ameera on the back post, who finished it off by putting the ball in the back of the goal for a second time. Time was called just after this and Wilson's came away with 1 point for a 2-2 draw. It was great game enjoyed by all!
The Minor B Girls were also in action.
Christmas Concert. The first night of the Christmas concert took place tonight with singers, dancers and musicians from throughout the school taking part. This event, organised by the Music Department has become a firm favourite in the Wilson's run up to Christmas. It There are more photos elsewhere on this website.
Rugby. The Junior Boys Rugby Team travelled to Dundalk Rugby Club to take on Dundalk Grammar in the Quarter final of the Duff Cup. Dundalk ran our winners in the end 32-12 but didn’t have it all their own way. Two tries late in the second half put a harsh look to the scoreboard. Of the starting fifteen, 10 of the team were in second year, so the future is certainly bright. Tries on the day came through Max and Jorge. The Juniors will now compete in the Duff Plate after Christmas.
Our First Year Boys tasted their first defeat of the season this afternoon when they travelled to Clongowes Wood to take on their A team. A try from Joel was the highlight of the first half where Wilson’s struggled to hold onto the ball. Clongowes ran out 48-5 winners in what was a tough but very valuable experience for our First Year Boys.
In the pack Charlie, Edward and Samuel (upon his introduction) worked very hard against a big physical Clongowes set of forwards. On what was a tough day for the backs - Michael, Rowland and Jude had some very positive contributions. Team Captain Sam was named man of the match with another barn storming performance both in attack and defence.
The Girls Team were playing in a Blitz today.
