A tired group of Junior boys arrived back to WHS on Sunday night after an action packed few days in Wales.
They left WHS early on Friday morning and made their way to Rosslare to get the Ferry to Pembroke. On Friday afternoon they had a two hour training session in the Ospreys High Performance Facility in Swansea. The session was taken by former pro player Tom Sloane. Tom then gave the boys a tour of the facilities including the analysis room showing the Wilson’s players how the pro players break down and analyze their own performances after games. That evening the boys headed back to the hotel for food and a recovery session in the hotel swimming pool.
On Saturday morning we travelled to local club (Waunarlwydd RFC) to take on the home team as well as two other teams in a round robin format blitz. We won two games and narrowly lost out in the third. All games were very well contested with all of the Wilson’s players performing admirably against physically bigger sides. Max finished the morning with 5 tries and other tries came from Tom, Joel, Sam, Stephen, Ross and Matthew. After the game we retired to the Waunarlwydd club house where we were treated to lovely food and tour captain Reuben swapped jerseys with the opposition captain.
After a very successful morning we headed to the local beach (Caswell Bay) for a surf lesson. It served as another bit of recovery for the boys who were sore after all of the rugby that morning.
In the evening we made our way to Parc Y Scarlets to watch the home team take on Zebre. It was great to see so many tries with Scarlets running out winners 41.0.
On Sunday morning after an early breakfast we made our way to Fallbay RFC for another two games. The first kicking off at 10am against Bonymaen RFC. In a very competitive game we ended up coming back from 15-0 down to draw 20 points each. Up next were the home club Fallbay RFC. Again the game was very competitive. We came out on top 15-7. Matthew (2), Reuben (2), Sam (2) and William (Try of the Tour) with the scores.
After our second game all the teams headed up to the club house for a meal and a jersey exchange. Our captain for Sunday was Ross who performed admirably over the course of the entire tour. Afterwards, we made a stop at the Ospreys shop before making our way back to Pembroke for the Ferry.
It would be unfair to single out players as all 29 players performed admirably through the course of the 5 tour games! Tom, Matthew and Sam were named players of the Tour and presented with signed balls from all the players on the Ferry home. Well done boys!
