Emer and Sinéad from Form 1 competed in the UCD Octo-Finals this evening, held on Zoom. The standards of the debates was very high and both girls performed really well in their speeches, as they battled against students older and more experienced than them.
Both girls competed in three online rounds of the competition before Christmas. They were in the top 32 individual Junior debaters despite being in 1st year and facing strong competition from 2nd and 3rd year students from a range of schols accross the country.
Emer won her round and will progress to the Quarter-Finals – a fantastic achievement! Well done Emer and commiserations to Sinéad.
They argued for and against the motion that “The House Believes that the Responsibility for Tackling Climate Change Lies with Individuals Rather than Large Corporations”.
