Sports & Extra Curricular Events 25th April - 1st May 2022

The final home game of the season was played on Wednesday when our Junior Boys Rugby Team played old foes St. Columba's College in the League semi final. Wilson’s won “Metro 1” while St Columba's won the “Metro 2” group on route to the semi final.Wilson’s got out of the blocks fast in front of a small but lively home crowd. Callum M with some lovely footwork, powered through a couple of tackles and galloped in from forty yards. The big No 8 added two more tries in the first fifteen minutes to effectively kill the game before it had really got going. Further first half tries from Yaw (some beautiful footwork in the lead up), Darren, Leke and Killian had Wilson’s out of sight at half time. Killian incredibly added all seven conversions. The second half was a much more competitive affair. After what must have been a tough half time team talk, St Columba's came out strong and scored first to take the rough score off the board. Wilson’s responded through Shane (2), and two beautiful tries from Brooklyn (his first for the JCT) and Callum R (his first for the JCT). St Columba's never gave up and added a great team try at the end. Final score 66-12. This was a good team performance with most of the work done in the first half.Shay, Mark and Sean were in the thick of it for the forwards while John, David and Josh did a lot of the hard work for the backs. Darren was the writers man of the match, scoring a good try and he had some excellent defensive efforts and was a constant threat to St Columba's. The final will be the week after next as the other semi final between Athy and New Ross is not yet played.

The Junior Girls Basketball Team were unfortunate not to win the All Ireland Quarter Final on Thursday. They played Coachford College, Cork in Inchicore. They have had a great season and we are very proud of the squad and their coach, Ms Beirne.

The u15 Girls Soccer Team were in action at home today against Scared Heart Tullamore in their play off game. Unfortunately the score was 2-3 to the opposition. The girls were delighted to be playing in their new kit (more details to follow about this kit).
