Transition Year students learn all sorts of skills at Wilson’s Hospital School and one group restored a classic Fordson Dexta tractor. This restoration project, under the guidance of Mr John Rogers (Rathowen) featured in the Irish Vintage Scene Magazine. The students who were involved in the project are picture here with the finished tractor at the front steps of the school. The current TY students have been restoring an off road buggy!
The decision was made to sell the restored Fordson Dexta tractor in a draw. The winning tickets were drawn by Ms Barbara Sweeney (from Multyfarnham) who is a past pupil and current teacher at the school. Thank you to John Rogers (another past pupil and the current Chair of the Board at Wilson’s) for all of his help throughout this project.
Congratulations to Diarmuid and Richard Farrelly who have won the tractor. The second prize of an electric sprayer went to Ms Ruth Rogers. Third prize of a €200 voucher was won by Gordon Bye and the fourth prize, a year’s subscription to the Irish Vintage Scene magazine was won by Cathal Tighe. Congratulations to all of the winners and thank you to the sponsors of the prizes.
